2025 SMCSC Spring Newsletter
STEPHENSON MID-COUNTY SPORTSMEN’S CLUB
SPRING 2025 NEWSLETTER
Bring on Summer! After semi-dormant Club happenings through the Winter, we are excited to get Club activities rolling again. To summarize what has taken place and what will be happening through the summer;
*The second shooting range is operational to accommodate multiple shooters safely.
*Access road improvements and a parking area near the shooter’s pavilion were started late last fall and will be completed early this year. This will allow use of the range both later in the year and earlier when it’s wet.
*The range is available year-round and is kept plowed out in the Winter when needed.
*A Hunter’s Safety field day is being held in early May as well as our Traditional in-person class the third weekend of August.
*Much positive feedback has been received regarding the new shooting tables and seats.
*Fencing improvement donations have been sought to minimize cost to the club. This is a necessity as we have had non-members using the range with our non-secure perimeter. We also don’t want curious youth entering and a potential accident.
*3-D targets will be placed out real soon for Summer archery enthusiasts.
*A .22 shooting league being planned for August.
*Adopt-A-Highway cleanup will be held May 21st prior to our regular monthly meeting (Mellen Township Park
*Our Summer Raffle will be held July 9th. Tickets are nearly sold out already! This once-a- year raffle helps us to further range improvements and projects.
*November Banquet preparations have already started. With two banquets now under our belt, the planning and foot work needed is becoming more manageable.
*Club growth and stability remains positive. It wasn’t too many years ago that the Club was headed toward financial destruction with a decreasing membership.
*The Club website is operational! Please check it out at smcsportsmens.com. Everyone can now join and/or renew their membership and pay online! This will also reduce Board member workload.
*A Club QR code has been created and this will direct people to the website and the ability to join/renew easily. The QR code can be found on the new Club Brochures, future posters, and will also be posted at the gate in the near future.
*Club dissemination of information is no longer limited to Facebook and meeting attendance. We encourage attendance at our monthly meetings. June through October monthly meetings will be held at the range at 6pm on the third Wednesdays of each month (minus July when we do not meet). We hope to see you and see for yourself what is taking place on the property.
As always, feel free to contact any of us with questions or comments. Have a wonderful and safe Summer!
